Kids Christmas Crafts - A Great Option To Keep Them Entertained In Winter
Sometimes Christmas can feel completely unmanageable for families with young kids. We are all bombarded with advertising and it seems as if every child likes every toy under the sun. But you can find ways to get things back on track and to make it all a little less demanding. One way to do several things together as a family is kids Christmas crafts. Attractive Christmas crafts could be versatile enough to ensure that kids of different ages can all take part.
There are two basic areas to consider when it comes to children Christmas craft ideas and these can be foods and decorations.
Let's start with the decorations. The best material for festive decorations is definitely paper. This is for many reasons. Firstly, it is inexpensive, you can collect packets all through the year when they are on offer and secondly you can make absolutely anything with it. For the really daring you can even try to make your Christmas baubles!
The important thing about any kids Christmas craft is to start quite early and to use it to build up to Christmas. This also means that you can do the projects progressively.
Start by preparing boxes for each kid of what they want to use. For example I have one child who likes green and another who's favourite colour is red, which means we divide up our collections of things; paper, stickers, into boxes for each kid. This also means that they can exchange and it all builds up the game factor.
The next thing to do is to work out what each child wants to make and to get plenty of picture for them to copy. This is where you need to do some behind the scenes work.
Depending on the age and levels of skill of the kids you should do some groundwork in order to avoid frustration. Remember, it is still their venture, but you are just eliminating some of the problems before they arrive.
By starting early it means that when you have the tree you will already have some things to put on it, and you won't need to either go out and spend a fortune on shop made items, or have a busy making session to stop the tree from looking blank.
The things to start with making are stars for suspending on the tree, I use the froebel star for this. I use the same star in various sizes to make indoor wreathes as well. I just get a metal coat hanger and bend it into a circle and then embellish it with pine cones and stars and attach a large ribbon around the top, where the hook is and you get the most beautiful wreath. You can add to these with gold or silver sprays, or even beautify the cones with fake snow.
No kids Christmas crafts are finished without biscuits for the tree. These are an essential for any family. As with all things, you have to work out exactly what your children can do at their ages. If they are only little then you are probably best cutting the biscuits yourself and allowing them to make the mixture and apply the things.
All in kids Christmas crafts are the ideal way to spend every cold or rainy evening between the beginning of the September phase and Christmas. As a family you will have great fun, you will find that you sit around a table and chat more than you have done all summer. It is a really fun feeling and you are bound to want to recreate it again the next year.
