By starting early it means that when you have the tree you will already have some things to put on it, and you won't need to either go out and spend a fortune on shop made items, or have a busy making session to stop the tree from looking blank.
The things to start with making are stars for suspending on the tree, I use the froebel star for this. I use the same star in various sizes to make indoor wreathes as well. I just get a metal coat hanger and bend it into a circle and then embellish it with pine cones and stars and attach a large ribbon around the top, where the hook is and you get the most beautiful wreath. You can add to these with gold or silver sprays, or even beautify the cones with fake snow.
No kids Christmas crafts are finished without biscuits for the tree. These are an essential for any family. As with all things, you have to work out exactly what your children can do at their ages. If they are only little then you are probably best cutting the biscuits yourself and allowing them to make the mixture and apply the things.
All in kids Christmas crafts are the ideal way to spend every cold or rainy evening between the beginning of the September phase and Christmas. As a family you will have great fun, you will find that you sit around a table and chat more than you have done all summer. It is a really fun feeling and you are bound to want to recreate it again the next year.
